Sushi Tomi
This is the chef/owner of Sushi Tomi in Mountain View, CA. I've known him for maybe 10 years. I only get there once in a blue moon, but he always remembers me. IMHO, you can spend a lot more for sushi, you can get much more elegant dining experiences, but there is no better sushi.

That Impossible Black Dog
Well, at least it shows that she really can run again and how much fun she has in the surf.

Darn shadow details. It's so easy to underexpose or overexpose her and so hard to recover from either. This one was underexposed and I had to use every trick I know to bring out what little detail there was. And I know, it still doesn't look right. I've tried shooting with a flash, and that looks really bad. I guess a little overexposed is better, at least there's hope for post.

... in the wake of tropical storm Beryl. Not a lot of Nantucket surfers are good enough for the disorganized waves today.

Osprey Banding
She looks happy, but it was actually pretty sad. We set out to band the osprey chicks in a nest at the U. Mass. Field station. But the nest was empty. There's only one chick left on the east side of Nantucket this year. Perhaps something bad is going on? The weather has been bad this year, lots of big storms with lots of wind. But the naturalists suspect that some sort of pesticide or herbicide may be getting to them.
